The Colombian Mountains
Colombia is a country located in the equatorial line, what makes us a “Tropic” country. Due to this, its biological richness is unique in the planet; endemic, varied, exotic. This also have allowed our mountains to become paradises that have arisen like islands in the middle of the jungle. There, exclusive ecosystems evolve and can be found just in 4 countries of the earth. Colombia has more than 50% of these ecosystems called “PARAMOS”. These Páramos that are located between 3700 m and 4500m are extremely important for the country, because from there is where 70% of the big Colombian rivers born and is the habitat of big importance species like the Andean Condor, the “glasses-eyed” bear, the Puma, the white tail deer and the Dantas (a big mammal that lives from the jungle to the páramo). Above the end of the Páramos we can find some old ranges and volcanoes, covered by the white glaciers that remain there from the last ice-age. Is there, among all that beauty, where we can walk and climb to feel free as the mountain justified.
